In the summer of 1993 I visited London for my brother's wedding. While I was there the sports sections of the British papers were full of stories on an oddly named sporting event called "The Ashes". All I knew about cricket at the time was that Brits played it instead of baseball. When I got back to the States, I started reading everything I could find on cricket and eventually developed a cricket shareware game called RSC Test Cricket. Thousands of copies were downloaded - and a few thoughtful people even paid the $5 registration fee!
With the start of the 2009 Ashes, I was inspired to bring RSC Test Cricket to the web. This is a much more robust version than my shareware program. All cricketers are represented using their real-life Test Cricket statistics. Cricket bowling styles and strategies are factored in. I'm gradually loading up real-life bowling styles but you can assign styles for the cricket players I haven't gotten to yet.
Hopefully you will find the gameplay self-explanatory. Like most programmers, I'm not much into documentaion. This is still a game in process. As statistics accumulate, I will fine tune the formulas to make the scoring as realistic as possible. I'm interested in all feedback. Please email me at bfreedman@conodoguinet.com.
I have other sports simulation games. You can find my basketball, volleyball, horse racing, football and golf games at b1231.com.
